Renewable energy in agriculture has revealed the possibility of designing integrative systems into farms and also have energy village for on and off-farm electrification, especially needed in developing regions. Photovoltaic (PV) pricing continues to decrease, gaining traction economically for planning systems like agrivoltaics (combining agriculture and solar energy production) for higher productivity and synergy on the same land.
However, over the years, agrivoltaic developments have only focused on energy and food yields with little consideration of water-saving and agricultural waste management to economically maximize yield during the planning of farmland. Green Synergy interns to develop a planning and farmland app to assist a farmer to maximize the land resource on land by practising multiple land use activities based on the farming system on the same land. The Farmland Planner tool would help the farmer to define different business cases for multiple land-use.
