The food supply chain in Africa is highly fragmented, largely offline and overly mediated, leading to inflated prices to consumers, low profits to farmers and over 40% post-harvest losses. On the other hand, the internet opportunity in Africa is growing fast with over 250m people online and active on social channels especially WhatsApp. Our solution is a technology platform that enables anyone to start a grocery business without any capital – all one needs is a free account on their phone, and start selling to family, friends and neighbors, and earn a commission of 10% on every order fulfilled. We maximize data to predict demand and efficiently move products from rural farms to urban consumers within 48 hours. Our resellers/agents are women and youth micro-entrepreneurs who aspire to earn from home or increase income from their current business without additional capital. Our solution is currently live in Nairobi with over 100 resellers onboarded.
