Farmer and Agent Management System (Fams) Digital Farming built for Africa’s Reality

The Farmer and Agent Management System (FAMS) offers agtech services in management, farmer training, and product traceability to digitize and streamline the agricultural system for outgrower networks. The Mozambican agricultural system relies on paper data collection and frequent field visits, causing communication gaps, delays in receiving data for decision-making, and wasted time and resources. The FAMS application includes software for desktop and a mobile app designed by our team in Mozambique for the African context. FAMS addresses the problems of access, communication, and management for agribusinesses running with minimal technology requirements in an offline-first environment. FAMS is unique because it is specially designed to support rural, smallholder farmers in outgrower networks. We see FAMS’ potential to drastically improve the African agricultural system via digitalization, improving its worldwide competitiveness.
