“Ethiopia imports USD 73 million of processed lentil dal every year — and has zero industrial processors to make it domestically. We’re a Canadian company changing that. We’re building a 100-ton-per-day lentil processing plant inside Ethiopia’s Gada Special Economic Zone — importing Canadian raw lentils, processing them in Ethiopia, and selling finished dal at a USD 380 per tonne gross spread. The plant generates a 24 to 30% IRR, pays back in under 4.5 years, and creates over 400 jobs across the supply chain.
