Smallholder-farmers face many challenges that include high post-harvest loses and unpredictable prices for their produce. Over 20% of food-produce distributed to Ugandan markets remains unsold and rots, since vendors cannot forecast a day’s orders and so buy in excess, ultimately, customers and farmers are the ones who cover these costs.
