Our solution is a clean energy stove called the Ecostove that provides cooking energy, lighting, and power outlets for small appliances. Our solution addresses the challenge of access to clean cooking energy for households in developing countries, which is an environmental issue and a major public health concern, as traditional cooking methods using firewood and kerosene contribute to indoor air pollution, causing respiratory diseases and premature deaths.
The Ecostove is unique because it is a compact, self-contained unit with an inductive power base, battery pack, and solar panel array. This innovative design allows the stove to use both electricity and biomass fuels, such as wood and agricultural waste, making it versatile and accessible to a wider range of users. Additionally, our solution includes a training program to educate households on the safe and efficient use of the stove and to promote behavior change towards clean energy adoption.
