Eco Brixs Recycling plastic and creating Green Jobs in Uganda

Eco Brixs is a social enterprise that is focused on improving and creating new sustainable solid waste management solutions in Uganda. Operating since 2017, the focus has been on arguably the most destructive man-made waste: plastic.
Through our unique business model, we have created a closed-loop sustainable system that allows us to recycle all types of plastic and create thousands of income opportunities for the most vulnerable members of the community.
We do all this by giving trash a value.
By motivating people to bring plastic to us through a cash reward, and making the system convenient by setting up 16 collection sites in the district, we have created a collection network that has a huge community and environmental impact:
By buying every kg of plastic the community has brought to us so far, this has led to the creation of 352 full-time jobs for individuals delivering waste plastic to Eco Brixs. And a further 3,000 people who earn through recycling alongside other work.
