Doorstep Foods A digital marketplace for uganda's 2.5million smallholder farmers

Having grown up on a farm back in my small village of Shuuku, Sheema district, Uganda, I always used to help my mother on her small garden. However, I realized that my mother and many other farmers in our village were being exploited by unscrupulous middle men who were buying produce from them cheaply and selling the produce at exorbitant prices in urban areas. This got me and my co-founders thinking about setting up a transparent and efficient supply chain that matches demand to supply, aggregating market participants and finding market for smallholder farmers in Uganda’s large but fragmented food sector. We aim at formalizing the supply chain to make food cheaper in cities while properly compensating farmers.
For my mother, this will have a significantly positive impact on her life, she will now be able to sell her produce right in the middle of her one-acre garden to the right buyers and at the right price, something she rarely did before.
