Agricultural production and productivity in Uganda keep plummeting as a result of the rapidly changing climate, inability to access financial support due to higher interest rate, and limited access to critical farm inputs. This impoverishes vulnerable farmers, in particular youths and women, who as a result experience low household incomes and food insecurity. Households therefore cannot enroll into commercial agricultural production – limiting sustainable economic opportunities and sources of livelihood. Cosma aims at increasing access to use of critical farm inputs; promoting sustainable land use and soil management; increasing access to agricultural finance and markets with specific attention to households. We organize farmers into village cooperatives through which we deliver a revolving credit inform of both cash and farm inputs cushioned by crop insurance, group guarantee and market linkages.
