Considering the current trend in the country’s and the continent’s population growth and projections, the need for affordable, decent shelter is very much urgent. With our current business model in the quarrying industry, where there are significant synergies in bringing the unit cost tremendously down, we are looking to scale up our operations internally and expand to the Gambia and other African countries and the middle east where these products are needed also. Our current quarry operations have +/- 35-40% returns on investments.
Our expansion strategy is based on the prevailing scenario where the bulk carriers carried goods into the country and then returned empty. With $ 78 per tonne for aggregate to the Gambia, better returns on investment for such a project. Finances obtained from the sale of aggregates both internally and externally will be reinvested in the affordable housing project. With the quarry materials, 40-50% of the cost of a housing unit will already be achieved.
