The recovery effort from the COVID-19 pandemic presents an unprecedented opportunity to reset the global economy on a pathway towards a more environmentally sustainable , low-carbon and inclusive developmental trajectory. It is therefore essential to ensure that Africa’s economic recovery strategies are aligned to the United Nations 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the African Union’s Agenda the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Paris Agreement and other Multilateral Environmental Agreements. We shall provide rapid response in support of key economic sectors hardest hit by the pandemic, like agriculture, aquaculture, vocational training, ecotourism and biodiversity conservation synergies, eco-innovation, resource efficiency, low-carbon planning, climate change mitigation & adaptation, to transition Kenya towards a blue, green, digital and circular economies.
