Bewla is a P2P social payment app that enables everyone, including the unbanked and under-served populace pay digitally for in-store day-to-day micro transactions. Bewla is on a mission to digitize micro payments, so that every day petty buying and selling in local markets, street corner stores, commuter bus fares will be paid via digital channels. Part of the goal is to drive financial inclusion and solve the problem of currency denomination splitting that arise during petty transactions.
USE CASE: Yinka, a married woman usually shop for the family supply on Saturdays. Shopping is fun until that awkward moment she has to pay for crayfish worth 135 NGN but only have 1,000 NGN currency notes. She had been insulted more than once by unruly market women for daring to pay for a small item with such a huge denomination. A trader once snatched the item she had initially picked for purchase and gave her a stern look, another accused her of attempting to show off.
