Benin’s Organic Coconut Oil’s Value Chain The production and commercialization value chains of coconut in Benin

Huielrie Royale Ted Benin Sarl (HRTed)’s purpose is to add the production value and commercialization of natural coconuts oil (Bio) in Benin. In 2015 HRTed started by improving the conservation methods of coconut oil that is produced by some rural women whom we encouraged to form a Common Initiative Group (CIG). HRTed continued to reinforce their activities and their revenues have grown from USD36 per month to USD25,000 for each member of the group. The group has as well grown from 8 to 30 women and has acquired the name “Miawekpoe”. By transporting and commercializing the coconut oil in Cotonou, Parakou and Porto-Novo, HRTed witnessed a huge growth in the demand which it has not been able to satisfy since 2016. Moreover, HRTed will continuously seek for ways of stepping up the production quantity and quality of the coconut oil as well as its by-products.
