Smallholder farmers often resort to outdated farming techniques and farming tools that harm the environment. Access to these services and tools is both an issue of availability and efficient allocation. Most smallholder farmers cannot afford to acquire some of the modern tools of production. On the other hand, Agricultural service providers (ASPs) such as input dealers, extension workers, mechanization service providers, and farm equipment hire & lease companies also struggle to reach and engage smallholder farmers who most need their services.
