African-markets.com The first web platform entirely dedicated to African stock markets

Started as a blog, AFRICAN MARKETS is now the first web platform, entirely dedicated to African stocks. The platform aggregates news stories for 17 African stock markets, and provides data and snapshots of the main companies listed on the continent.

In September 2015, we launched the new version of the platform with a new design and features along with new subscription plans that give access to exclusive content (downloadable market data and one of Africa’s largest annual reports database).

Fundraising

This venture has not initiated a round of financing on the VC4A platform. If they choose to, the summary of the fundraising round will appear to VC4A Pro Account users here.

Idea

We have an elevator pitch. We plan to execute a proven concept in a growing market.

At AFRICAN MARKETS we aim to boost stock market activity in Africa by improving dissemination of data and intelligence. We generate revenues from the sale of monthly subscription plans that give access to exclusive content (downloadable market data and one of Africa’s largest annual reports database) and advertising (banners to event organizers)

Team

Our founder has the business savvy and persistence to turn ideas into a company. We have a business network and can get introduced to the right people. We can build the product - our team has what it takes. Given the time and money, we can deliver on our promises.

Romuald Yonga (31, CEO) worked in Middle Office (Credit Agricole, BNP Paribas). He started AFRICAN MARKETS from scratch in 2012, developing the platform on his own. Jean-Julien Ilunga (30, COO) worked in investment banking (BNP Paribas). He joined AFRICAN MARKETS in 2014.

Revenue

We plan to start by building a community of passionate customers. We will earn revenue from an advertising model. We already have revenue from paying customers.

Although we are still in the startup phase trying to find the product-market fit for our customer segments, our current business model relies on the sale of monthly subscription plans (to individuals) and advertising (banners to event organisers). We sell subscription plans at $30/month to students, analysts and retail investors living primarily in Africa (90%). The other clients live in the UK and the US.
