The annual Africa Forum is an international landmark event hosted under the High Patronage of H.E. Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, aiming to promote African trade and investment. This year’s edition, Africa 2017, will take place from the 7th to the 9th of December 2017 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, and is organised by the Government of Egypt – through the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation – and COMESA Regional Investment Agency.
Africa 2017 is a unique business-to-business and government-to-business platform, bringing together policy makers, financiers, leading industrialists and young entrepreneurs. This year’s Forum will focus on “Driving Investment for Inclusive Growth”. In this context, various activities have been arranged, ultimately in view of enhancing private sector cooperation in Africa and catalyse investment into sectors of strategic interest to our continent.
The three-day Forum promises to convene more than 1,500 leaders in business and policy from across Africa and the world. The 2017 edition builds on the success of the inaugural Africa 2016, where six African heads of state and more than 1,400 delegates from 45 countries participated, and where over 300 one-to-one meetings took place and various MOUs across multiple sectors were signed.
The Forum is centred around three pillars:
• Driving Investment for sustainable development
• Job creation: harnessing the opportunity of Africa’s young talent
• Inclusive growth

Who will attend?
Invited delegations from a number of African countries represented at a Presidential or Ministerial level. A number of business delegations will be accompanying their respective governments as well as the Investment Promotion Agencies of those countries. Last year’s Forum attracted a truly international audience. The African private sector will be represented at a CEO or senior C-suite level or equivalent from the following industries: Financial Services, Manufacturing, Agribusiness, Construction, Energy, Technology, FCMG, Transport & Logistics and Infrastructure.
This year, the programme has been enhanced with a Young Entrepreneurs Day.
The Young Entrepreneurs Day aims to harness the demographic dividend by offering a unique platform to invest in youth and the young champions of tomorrow. The Young Entrepreneurs day will feature the rising starts of the continent, welcome the leading private investment firms and invite a roster of thought leaders currently changing the Entrepreneurship ecosystem in Africa and the world. Some $366 million funding was raised by African start-ups in 2016, proving that home-grown solutions are attracting investment from leading Venture Capital firms and other investors.
The Young Entrepreneur’s Day will help make these important connections between ideas and investors as well as provide the tools and networks for the champions of tomorrow to truly scale up their ideas and businesses beyond the limits of their local markets. This platform will also work to promote cross border entrepreneurship. Be part of a growing community investing in the future business leaders of the African Continent.
