Fundación Avina

Contributing to global sustainability from the global south

We are a Latin American foundation that promotes sustainability through collaborative processes, leading to large-scale positive impact.

To fulfill our mission we work from the Global South (Latin America and Africa), in line with the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations, to advance innovations that promote the care of the planet and the well-being of all people.

At Avina, we believe in deepening and strengthening efforts that promote human dignity, equity, environmental sustainability, and our democracies.

We promote collaborative change processes that allow us to understand the challenges and offer specific responses to each context, creating systemic and resilient changes.

Nothing we do would be possible without our partners. At Avina, we understand that lack of collaboration is the greatest challenge to sustainable development.

Collaborative processes: Fundación Avina guiding vision

Today, collaborative change processes are the essence of everything we do. In more than twenty years of experience, we have been able to perfect and systematize our model and, subsequently, positively impact the lives of millions of people.

Fundación Avina’s collaborative processes are developed based on our in-depth knowledge of the areas where we work, as well as the identities and idiosyncrasies present in the Global South.  Together with our strategic partners, we seek to align various interests and visions, coordinate actions undertaken, and position agendas in a way that develops realistic solutions and lasting change.

Identifying impact opportunities

Fundación Avina determines impact opportunities based on the identification of four fundamental elements:

  1. Relevance:Could the project have a lasting impact on sustainability?
  2. Collaboration Gaps: Does a lack of collaboration represent a major obstacle to scaling the project?
  3. Inflection Point: Is it possible to make a strategic impact?
  4. Scalability: Can the impact be exponential?
