Broadcast, Film and Music Africa 2013 taking place in Nairobi, Kenya this week

This week (Wednesday and Thursday, 26-27 June) the Broadcast, Film and Music Africa 2013 event is taking place at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. VC4Africa is one of the supporting organizations.

Broadcast, Film and Music Africa (BFMA) is one of the largest annual gatherings of broadcast, film, music, other electronic media and content creation and distribution professionals in sub-Saharan Africa, where regional and international industry experts share latest insights. Never before have so many film, broadcast and music gurus gathered in the same place in Africa, organizer AITEC Africa announced (over 800 delegates and over 130 speakers).

The BFMA programme also includes the second Africa Media Business Exchange (AMBE), a platform for African media start-ups to pitch their business ideas and opportunities to Venture Capitalists and other potential investors – as well as for content producers to pitch their ideas to commissioning editors and other buyers of content. This event is organized by AITEC Africa in partnership with FilmBiz Africa and The GrowthHub and will be hosted both at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre and The GrowthHub.

The following are among the investors who have confirmed participation in the AMBE program: Innovation 4 Africa; 88 mph; Aramid Capital; PesaFund; Growth Africa; Jacana; Kibunda; PVL Africa; TBL Microfund Africa. Many of them are part of the VC4Africa investor network. Also see a list of 40 investors from this network we profiled before.

At AMBE each investor will have a 15-minute face-to-face meeting with each of the start-ups participating, providing them with a real-life opportunity to pitch their production or business ideas to investors that are actively looking for investment opportunities in the creative arts and digital media industries.

See the AITEC Africa website for more information and registration. Attendance is free for industry professionals, academics, policy-makers, regulators, researchers, analysts and senior students.
