AHIA is an interdisciplinary program at Emory University that supports innovators addressing unmet healthcare needs throughout Africa. Specifically, AHIA advises, educates, and trains African innovators in the business and legal aspects of entrepreneurship. AHIA has operated since 2015 and supported over 35 innovators.
AHIA runs three main programs:
1. AHIA:Educate- An annual workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa to train early stage bio-innovators in business concepts and legal considerations of starting a healthcare business.
2. AHIA:NEXT – Semester-long consultations for African innovators led by interdisciplinary teams of Emory graduate students.
3. Bio Innovation Resource Hub- Run by AHIA in collaboration with AfricaBio, this website aims to provide bio-innovators with key educational resources to support their entrepreneurial journeys. Bioafricaresource.com
In 2021, AHIA will host a series of entrepreneurial webinars specifically aimed at addressing the concerns of African bio-innovators.
