NewGenAngels is an African-focused private angel investment club developing early stage investor networks in Africa. The inaugural Africa Business Angel Forum (ABAF) event held on the 3rd of March 2016 saw the announcement of two funds totaling $60M to be invested in African startups. The ABAF recognizes the market opportunities of African Inspired Brands, notably the fashion industry, and organized a first panel discussion during its inaugural event to explore investments in the growing African fashion industry.
The next ABAF will take place in September 2016 and bring together investors and entrepreneurs around 4 key areas:
(i) Venture debt finance (Fieldfisher and Silicon Valley bank UK);
(ii) Impact investing in partnership with Ongeza Fund;
(iii) the Economics of Fashion in Africa in partnership with AfDB;
(iv) Corporate venture capital within (Telcos) in partnership with the Global System Mobile Association (GSMA). Hightlights of the day include the following: Informational Talks and fireside chats.
